Workshops and school performances

Suitable for KS4 and KS5

GCSE, A Level English and Drama Students

Our new education programme aims to bring high-quality theatre productions to schools.

We offer workshops and school performances of our critically acclaimed production Othello, as performed at the Rose Playhouse in Spring 2015. Our packages can be tailored to your needs and take place in your school. Together with our actors, your students will explore:

  • How to stage a scene and communicate its themes
  • how to approach a classical text
  • rehearsal techniques

Our actors are professionally trained and very experienced in performing Shakespeare. They have been cast members of our acclaimed stage productions and look forward to sharing their first-hand experience of how to approach and perform  Shakespeare. Our lead drama practitioner is Adam Cunis, who works as freelance practitioner for Globe Education, Bard Boot Camp and CandleFire Theatre.

The aim of our workshops is to encourage your students to explore Shakespeare through practical exercises and to help them find their own approach to classical texts.

"We particularly enjoyed the way the actors remained faithful to the text whilst managing to sound modern and current. Quite cleverly done. And it was excellent how you managed to convey the story so clearly with just five actors in 90 minutes."
Samantha Grant, SEEVIC College

"Time Zone Theatre did some amazing work with our students. Othello was outstanding. Thank you for the experience and we loved every minute." Caroline Mitchell, Wilmington Grammar School for Girls.

"An exciting, fresh vision of Othello with accomplished performances by an energetic and very talented cast. Definitely recommended." Claire Davies, Subject Leader Drama, Gravesend Grammar School.

Many congratulations!

The Time Zone Theatre Young Actor Programme aims to support young people who want to pursue a career in acting. In collaboration with MMBF Trust, we offer a weekend of free workshops and a visit to our production Othello to young people aged 16-18. Following our workshops on 6th/7th February, one participant will receive a grant of £900 towards professional acting training, provided by MMBF, and a 6-months-mentoring scheme, which includes career advice and invitations to industry events.

The Time Zone Theatre Young Actor programme 2016 runs from February to October. Young people who are interested in this scheme are invited to attend a free workshop on Saturday 6th February or Sunday 7th February in London. There is a maximum of 40 places available. In this workshop, students will explore Shakespeare together with actor and workshop leader Adam Cunis (freelance practitioner for Globe Education, Bard Boot Camp and CandleFire Theatre), and Time Zone Theatre’s artistic director Pamela Schermann. After the workshop, the students will watch a performance of Time Zone Theatre’s production of Othello. There will also be a short talk by Matthew C. Martino about the work of MMBF Trust, and information about how to apply for the Time Zone Theatre Young Actor Programme. After the application process, which will entail a short written application and an audition, one successful candidate will receive the grant.
